3. Can parents ride the bus with their child? | |||
No, parents may not ride the school bus except for field trips as chaperone. | |||
4. How are bus stops determined? | |||
Stops are assigned by general residential location of students and must meet state regulations for safety. Typical stop locations are within subdivisions near parks, common-walls and retention areas. Stops must be at least 50 feet from a signed intersection. Note: Stops will not be changed during the first 2 weeks of school. | |||
5. How do I find my child’s bus stop information? | |||
1) Back to School Transportation information is sent to all schools for eligible students prior to the start of school year. | |||
2) All bus stop information is available at each school site after August 22nd. | |||
6. Can my child ride home on another bus? | |||
Due to limited space on the school bus only eligible students may ride their assigned bus. Any request for an exception must be made by a parent to the school administrator, who in turn may grant the request. The principal must notify the driver and Transportation Office in writing. | |||

All bus conduct referrals are sent to the school administrator; per district policy the school administrator determines all disciplinary action. | |||

13. What qualifications does a bus driver have? | |||
A school bus driver must be at least 21 years of age, maintain a clean driving record, undergo drug and alcohol testing, pass a physical tolerance exam, and must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License and State school bus certification. | |||
14. What training programs do bus drivers attend? | |||
Provider/Vendor school bus drivers exceed the minimum training requirements of the State of wheel training, first aid/CPR. They must also attend annual refresher meetings and monthly safety meetings. | |||
15. Are there seating assignments on the bus? | |||
It is recommended that all elementary age students have assigned seats; secondary students will be assigned seats as needed at administrator discretion. | |||

Dear Parent/Guardian: Although we make every effort to ensure the safety of students on the bus and at the bus stop there are situations that require your assistance and participation in order to ensure the safety of your children when walking to and from the bus stop. Sometimes, children can be exposed to a dangerous situation because of their own or others behavior.
